About Who Decides
Who Decides will bring labor, parents, educators, civil-rights groups and other trusted organizations together around a common AI safety agenda for Democrats. Right now, a few executives inside a handful of companies are making all the decisions as AI reshapes entire industries, education, communities, and safety, and as the most powerful models grow beyond our ability to control them. The public has virtually no say, and neither political party has staked out a comprehensive agenda. Who Decides exists to make sure Democrats do, by building the coalitions needed to win elections on AI safety and govern AI so that the public sets the rules for the technology.
The Role
We are looking for several qualified In-State Political and Partnerships Directors across the Country who can serve as trusted and well-connected coalition builders and organizers with existing deep relationships across the Democratic ecosystem or the ability to quickly navigate and create relationships in a given state. Each State Director will work to build a durable in-state network of partner organizations and stakeholders to ensure AI Safety is salient and resonating in all relevant work politically and advocacy adjacent. State Directors will be reliable, on-call resources for local partners and leaders when AI questions come up.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience with state based issue advocacy or political work.
- History of creating and maintaining strong relationships and partnerships in the workplace ecosystem.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Personable and extroverted- this role will involve lots of outside partnership and collaborations.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.
- Must live In-State (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, or Wisconsin)
Expertise and background in AI helpful but not required.
